Sheep Free Dog Walks

Information for Dog Owners

We advise that all dogs are protected against ticks. Apply at least 1 week before your visit in order to be effective. Please consult your vet in plenty of time to ensure the best product for your dog is prescribed.

Lorne Forest, Forestry Commission, Aros.

Take the Tobermory road out of Salen. After crossing the river, access can be found approx 750 yards on the left. The car park is approx. 500 yards down the gravel road. This walk is ideal for wet days, walking boots are always advisable.  If you take the circular route certain areas will be muddy.

  • Lighthouse Walk Tobermory

The walk starts at the far end of the Tobermory Main Street, adjacent to the ferry terminal building. If you choose the circular route, please note that there is a steep climb at the turning point. This walk is ideal for wet days, walking boots are always advisable.

  • Aros Park, Tobermory

Take the Tobermory road out of Salen.  Just before reaching Tobermory, access is signposted. The car park is at the end of the access road approx. 1 mile. The walk is a circular walk around the lake. This walk is ideal for wet days, walking boots are always advisable.

  • Garmony

Take the Craignure road out of Salen. After approximately 6 miles the access is signposted (opposite the rugby club). There are generally always muddy areas.

  • Ardmore Forest

Take the Glengorm road out of Tobermory.  The access is clearly signposted after approximately 3 miles. If you take the circular route certain areas will be muddy.

  • Scallastle, Craignure

1 mile from Craignure on the way to Tobermory, carpark marked on the left.  Forestry path approx 2 mile round trip. Moderately flat walk with steep climb at the end (not obligatory).  Lovely mountain stream and waterfall at the end of the walk.

  • Torosay

1 mile south of Craignure on the road to Bunnesson.  Best to park in the Torosay castle carpark. The walk is about 2 miles there and back along a trackway that runs parallel with the minture steam railway line.  Excellent views out to sea most of the way, quite useful in wet conditions.
